Every member of our talented team brings their own unique value. And since they just might be the ones helping you grow your business, it’s important that you get to know them, as well! So, we’re proud to present to you: The Flinnwest Solutions team!
This week: Meet Marlowe.
- What do you do at Flinnwest (title, main duties)?
I’m a graphic designer—I create custom images for our clients. Most of the time I design social media graphics (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn), but I also custom-make images for blogs and press releases, and do some copywriting for social media as well.
- What made you want to get into your field?
I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to small details, so pouring over my computer all day masking small details in Photoshop is kind of a dream come true.
- Where were you trained (education or experience)?
I completed my undergrad at UBC where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts and majored in English Literature. From there I moved on to Langara where I graduated from the Post Graduate Diploma Program in Web and Mobile Design and Development.
- What do you love about your job?
I love how friendly, positive, and relaxed our office is. I never feel that I am being micromanaged, and I am free to do my work without feeling scrutinized. Also constant snacks and cute dogs. Need I say more?
- Do you have a nickname?
It’s-a-me! Marlio! Please don’t sue me Nintendo.
- Where’s your favourite place in the whole world?
I went on a trip to Tokyo last spring and I thought it was just about the coolest place I have ever been. I ate sushi off a conveyor belt, ordered ramen out of a vending machine, and got trapped inside the noisiest arcade you could ever imagine. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of Japan.
- What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I really can’t stand when people constantly talk about themselves in the third person. Marlowe finds it weird and egotistical.
- Do you have a secret talent?
After competitive swimming, and lifeguarding for over 10 years growing up, I’ve gotten pretty good at holding my breath and I can swim a good ways underwater. I even won an underwater swimming contest while on vacation in the Dominican—the drinks were already free so I won a victory t-shirt.
- What’s a weird fact you happen to know?
The state fish of Hawaii is the humuhumunukunukuapua’a.
